Grant FAQ's
What is your grant criteria?
- The charity or community group should primarily support one of our three core pillars.
- Charitable or community-based projects should be located in the same county as one of the Focus Group offices.
- The charity or community group needs to have an annual income of less than £1m.
- Have core running costs of less than 35% (this does not include professional costs).
- The grant should be for a tangible project with clear and measurable benefits.
Where can I apply for a grant?

Who can apply for a grant?
Anyone who meets our criteria but if you don’t, then speak with us. We may be able to help in other ways.
When do we hold our Grant Committee meetings?
The Charity Trustees meet four times a year to review grant applications, but date may vary. Typically, they are mid-March, mid-June, mid-September and mid-November.
Do we close the portal for incoming grant applications?
Yes, we may close the portal to assess incoming applications or if our funding is low.
What is the average grant amount?
Most grants range from £2,000 to £8,000.
If successful, how soon after will I be informed and receive the grant?
We aim to inform you and issue the paperwork and funds within 4 weeks of the Grant Committee meeting.
Can I reapply for a grant? If so, when?
Yes, you can reapply once your current project has ended, usually after one year. If you have been unsuccessful for a grant, then we ask you wait 6 months to reapply and book a call with our grants team so we can give you advise on what we look for.
Does the Focus Foundation have an application deadline for its online application portal?
No, but we typically stop assessing new applications 4 weeks before a Grant Committee meeting.
