Focus Foundation approved a grant of £3153.60 to St Peter’s Primary School in Shoreham. The funds were used to purchase a SMART board and a laptop for the newly built SEN room. This new space will provide the children with a quiet breakout area for more supported learning. The school has a higher-than-average SEND need, so the extra equipment will make the children’s lessons more accessible. There is a notable increase in the requirement for provision for special educational support across the country and schools currently are facing a significant funding gap.
The Foundation team were invited to join the children at a special presentation assembly to hand over the cheque for the grant, and to take a look at the new classroom. We were met with Senior staff and lots of very smiley faces. A small group of children joined us in the SEN room for the unveiling of the smart board which was met with great enthusiasm.
