A lifeline to education in the Scottish Borders

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

Back in April 2023, Focus Foundation funded* The Youth Work Learning Festival on behalf of YouthBorders, a network of more than 40 youth organisations in the Scottish Borders, that aims to improve young people’s lives through their participation in quality voluntary and community-based youth work.

40 participants, from 15 different YouthBorders member organisations, attended the Youth Work Learning Festival and benefited from a host of workshops throughout the day. It provided attendees a great opportunity to gain knowledge, share skills and make new connections.

Julia Partington, Chief Officer for YouthBorders commented “I would like to thank the Focus Foundation for the support in enabling this event to occur, this has been a valuable introduction to training and experiences for local youth and community workers across the Scottish Borders.”

With a network reaching nearly 5,000 young people (8-25 years) through their involvement with youth groups and organisations, YouthBorders support a workforce of nearly 700 volunteers and paid staff and is recognised regionally as the strategic voice of third sector youth organisations whilst working closely with partners in the public sector to improve outcomes for young people.
