Thanks to our amazing donors, we were able to fund two eye gaze devices for Rett UK. These life-changing communication tools are loaned to families to demonstrate their need, allowing them to apply for a grant for their own device. Over their 5-year lifespan, these loaned devices are expected to profoundly i
mpact approximately 40 families.
We were invited to meet one of the families who benefited from having an eye gaze on loan and got to meet Jojo and her family.

Lisa-Marie, Jojo’s mum and Becky Jenner from Rett UK explained that Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that mainly affects females, leading to severe impairments in speaking, walking, eating, and breathing. One of its most challenging aspects is the severe communication difficulties it brings. This is where eye gaze technology becomes essential.
Eye gaze technology allows individuals with communication difficulties to control a computer using their eyes, enabling them to select letters, words, or symbols. For someone with Rett syndrome, this technology can be transformative.

Such devices can open up new avenues for learning, social interaction, and self-expression for individuals with Rett syndrome, significantly reducing the frustration and emotional strain for their families. This grant represents hope and progress, highlighting the importance of adaptive technologies and setting a precedent for future initiatives.
Rett UK provides support and information to families and professionals dealing with Rett syndrome. With the addition of these eye gaze devices, they can offer more comprehensive support, enhancing the quality of life for individuals with Rett syndrome.
Every penny that you donate goes directly to grass-roots charities just like Rett UK who are changing the lives of those that they support.
