Children at the Henfield Youth Club will be given the opportunity to reach their full potential with a grant of £1,434 awarded by Focus Foundation, for 4 new computers, funding for essential upgrades and IT training.
It is estimated that 9% of families in the UK do not have access to essential technology, commonly referred to as the digital divide. Lack of connectivity and technology severely impacts and impairs young people’s ability to access school lessons and homework, conduct research and communicate with their peers.
These computers will provide the young people who attend the Youth club with the ability to write their CV’s, search and apply for jobs, as well as communicate with friends. To ensure all the young people have access to this new equipment, an IT expert from Focus Group provided the group with some basic training.
Henfield Youth Club met all our core criteria and is a wonderful community project for us to be involved in.
