Hope & Healing Initiative: Supporting Families Through Life’s Toughest Moments

Hope & Healing: Family Cancer Support is a pioneering initiative designed and funded by Focus Foundation to provide vital counselling and emotional support for families navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

Delivered in partnership with Brighton Therapy Centre, the programme will provide more than 1,000 hours of specialised therapy across Sussex – creating safe, supportive spaces for individuals and families who need it most.

Led by experienced professionals Kerry Evans and Michael O’Rourke, who bring more than 20 years of expertise in cancer and palliative care, the initiative helps address a critical gap in accessible emotional support services for families affected by cancer.

Working alongside Sussex-based charities including WOLO Foundation, Children with Cancer Fund, Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre, Jane’s Wish, Momentum Children’s Charity, and 1066 Pink Ladies, referrals are made through trusted local organisations supporting families within their communities.

Each participant receives an initial consultation followed by 12 therapy sessions, with additional support available where funding allows.

At its heart, Hope & Healing: Family Cancer Support exists to ensure families facing one of life’s most difficult journeys feel supported, heard, and never alone.

Breaking Boundaries: Building Opportunity Beyond the Boundary

Breaking Boundaries is a bold new initiative transforming access to cricket for young people across Sussex.

Delivered by Sussex Cricket Foundation, Focus Foundation and supported by the ECB, the programme is about more than cricket.

It’s about confidence, opportunity, resilience and community. It’s about ensuring every child, regardless of background or circumstance, has the chance to play, grow and thrive through sport.

Together, we are building a county-wide network of State School Cricket Hubs that give children the opportunity to play, learn and develop in environments where cricket is visible, exciting and genuinely accessible.

Through professional coaching, improved facilities, teacher training and partnerships with local clubs, we are creating pathways that simply haven’t existed for many state school students before.

Our mission is not just to develop better cricketers, it’s to help develop more confident, resilient and connected young people.
